Kansas transportation officials OK January bids

The Kansas Department of Transportation said Monday that it has approved several bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects throughout the state.

For District One, the Northeast part of the state, R D Johnson Excavating Co was approved for a $479,970.70 bid, which will include construction from RS 210, between Route 12 and RS 1277. In Johnson, construction will begin on 75th street from Mission to State Line. O’Donnell and Sons Construction Co. will perform grading and surfacing of these areas. The budget for this project will be $3,494,951.15.

For District Two, covering McPherson, Ottawa and Saline, APAC Kansas will perform intersection improvements from I-345 northbound off ramp at U.S. 56 for a total of $341,915.70. Hall Brothers Inc. won the $2,280,639.60 bid for a 3-inch overlay at the U.S. 81 junction north to the Ottawa/Cloud county line. In Saline, Collins & Herman Inc. was approved for a $123,395.31 bid for improvements from the U.S. 81 interchange southbound to the I-345 ramp and eastbound I-70.

For District Three, Thomas and Wallace will see improvements, and three bridges -- Nos. 39, 36 and 37 -- will be replaced. Klaver Construction Co. won the contract.

For District Four, Crawford will see a recycle and overlay from Dustrol Inc. from K-7 at the south county line to K-7/K-126. Woodson’s bridge No. 5 will be replaced by A M Cohron & Son Inc. Butler, Harvey and Sedgwick will see major work being done. Butler’s U.S. 54 section, from the eastern city limits of August to U.S. 54, will undergo pavement patching by Winding Road Construction. Bridge No. 71 in Harvey will be repaired by B & B Bridge Company, LLC. Interchanges and surfacing will occur from I-345/K-96 and I-345/I235 by Ram Construction Services of Michigan.
