NCDOT seeks input on state transportation program draft

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking public feedback on its 10-Year State Transportation Improvement Program draft through April 23.

NCDOT will hold 10 information sessions across the state to provide information on the draft. The sessions begin on Tuesday and will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. in an open-house style format. For a list of meeting locations, visit www.ncdot.gov/strategictransportationinvestments/publicmeetings.html.

The sessions will allow NCDOT to receive input on the steps used to develop the plan as well as ideas for its improvement. The variety and geographic diversity of the projects is also up for review.

Feedback also can be submitted online at engagencdot.mindmixer.com for those unable to attend the meetings.

The transformation improvement program draft is the first developed under the state's Strategic Transportation Investments law. It includes 1,073 projects involving all modes of transportation in 100 counties.

The new Strategic Transportation Investments law allows NCDOT to fund 303 more projects than previously, as well as adding 126,000 more jobs.

The transportation board is expected to approve the final 2016-25 plan in June.
