MTA NYC Transit reorganizes senior leadership

MTA New York City Transit, the largest rapid transit system in the nation, on Monday said it reorganized its senior leadership to better meet challenges posed by steadily increasing ridership on the subway system.

John Gaul, a veteran of the Department of Subways, has been tapped to head a team responsible for accelerating development of technology in the system, developing innovative ways of expanding capacity and improving customer service. Gaul, who also previously led the Staten Island Railway, will now serve as the transit agency’s vice president, 21st Century Service Delivery.

The New York City subway system serves more than 6 million riders daily.
