Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker recently authorized nearly $1 million to expand the terminal building and rehabilitate two runways at Batten International Airport in Racine.

Gayle Stearn, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the expanded terminal will include the addition of a General Aviation Facility (GAF) for customs agents to inspect international passengers, cargo and crew.

The project is scheduled to begin this spring and be completed by fall 2016.

Most of the work will be funded by the federal government.
