Dicom Transportation Group purchases Extra Express

Dicom Transportation Group, a top business-to-business transportation services provider based in Montreal, acquired Extra Express, which is located in Los Angeles, on Tuesday.

With this move, Dicom now has “final mile” and distribution capabilities throughout the western portion of the U.S. Dicom previously had three business segments – freight, express, and logistics. Extra Express, an asset-light provider, supplies business-to-business final-mile services to its customers. It has grown into one of the biggest independent final-mile service providers in the western U.S.

Dicom has integrated its existing portfolio with Extra Express. Now the company provides regional parcel transportation, expedited, full-truckload, less-than-truckload, and final-mile network capabilities. This integration has also expanded the logistics services and geographic reach of Dicom.

Now, existing and new Dicom customers can gain access to final-mile deliver points and strategically located distribution centers in Colorado, California and Nevada.

"Extra Express provides Dicom with significant final-mile density in California and across the western United States," Dicom CEO Scott Dobak said. "Extra Express is an exceptionally well-run business, with a proven ability to service a wide range of industries. We look forward to offering their capabilities, which include state-of-the-art tracking and communications technology to both new and existing customers."
