Hornady Transportation and Daseke merge

With the acquisition of Hornady Transportation, Daseke, Inc., based in Addison, Texas, is now North America's biggest owner of open-deck, flatbed and speciality trucking capacity.

This is the second merger deal Daseke has made in the last month. In July, it merged with Bulldog Highway Express, based in Charleston, South Carolina.

“By joining with Don Daseke and our new sister companies, I know we will continue on with a people-first tradition,” Chris Hornady, the founder of Hornady Transportation, said. “We are excited to join forces with Daseke, because our philosophies are a mirror image. We will grow with our existing management team while having access to all of the assets of Daseke. Our combined group purchasing power will make us much more efficient and competitive in the marketplace. What’s more, we’re looking forward to sharing best practices and learning from the other operating companies. When you bring it all together, we have a recipe for strong growth.”

Based in Monroeville, Alabama, Hornady was founded in 1928 by G.E. Hornady.

“We have a disciplined approach to business and many of our customers have been with us for 25 or more years,” Hornady said. “We’re very much about customer service and treating our customers right. And we’re very much concerned with consistently and safely delivering our customer’s freight. We were recently honored with the Alabama Trucking Associations Engineers Award for excelling in our commitment to driver safety and a safe work environment. And, we have a consistent track record of being formally recognized by the insurance industry for our safety record.”

With the latest acquisition, Daseke has more than 3,000 tractors and 6,000 trailers.

“We continue to grow with elite flatbed and specialty carriers,” Don Daseke, CEO and chairman of Daseke, said. “They’re cut from the same cloth as our other companies. Hornady is a well-regarded, third-generation family business with an enviable safety record. They care about their people and love this industry. It’s exciting to have them on board.”
