Names of conferees released for surface transportation bill

Bill Shuster (R–PA), the chairman for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, recently released the names of the conferees who will be involved in the multi-year surface transportation bill.

The House committee recently approved the new bill. Now the leaders are moving on to the next step in advancing the bill.

The group of Republican conferees for the committee include Shuster, Sam Graves (R–MO), John J. Duncan, Jr. (R–TN), Candice Miller (R–MI), Lou Barletta (R–PA), Rick Crawford (R–AR), Blake Farenthold ( R–TX), Garret Graves (R–LA), Jeff Denham (R–CA), Bob Gibbs (R–OH), Scott Perry (R–PA), Reid Ribble ( R–WI), Rob Woodall (R–GA), John Katko (R–NY), Cresent Hardy (R–NV), and Bruce Babin (R–TX).

“This is an outstanding, hard-working group of members,” Shuster said. “I am confident that we will be able to take the strong House bill approved today, resolve any differences we have with the Senates position, and produce a final measure that improves our nation's infrastructure and reforms our transportation programs.”

Many believe the U.S. desperately needs a new, multi-year transportation bill. The national infrastructure is deteriorating with age, and transporting goods is a crucial part of the U.S. economy.
