Seattle seeking feedback on Ballard light rail plan

Seattle and its Department of Transportation and Department of Planning and Development will be holding an open house Nov. 18 to seek community feedback about ongoing development as Sound Transit prepares for a new light rail line to Ballard.

The city and its two departments are collaborating with an organization of nonprofits and neighborhood groups known as the Ballard Partnership for Smart Growth to create an integrated Urban Design and Transportation Framework for the community.

The study, called Move Ballard, will recommend improvements for near-term multimodal transportation throughout the Ballard Hub Urban Village area because of its significant growth.

The plan will determine possible high capacity transit stations, such as bus, rapid transit or light rail stations, to prepare for potential investments from Metro and Sound Transit in the community.

The Ballard Partnership for Smart Growth and the city of Seattle will host the open house at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Leif Erikson Lodge.
