Indiana transit officials review compliance with ADA

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) hosted a meeting with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Community Advisory Working Group on Wednesday to help the public see people with disabilities in a better light.

INDOT's ADA Transition Plan is designed to look at current services and facilities to determine if there are artificial access barriers to people who have disabilities. The working group explains INDOT's recommendations about the ADA Transition Plan, including raising public involvement with people who have disabilities when planning transportation projects.

The transition plan will be used to detect changes that should be a top priority in making all of the organization’s programs and practices align with the ADA’s Title II, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and similar or related regulations, statues and directives.
