Iowa DOT to hold open house on proposed U.S. 71 improvements

The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) will hold a public meeting on Thursday, April 7, on its plans to improve U.S. 71 from the Buena Vista County line north to Clay County Road B-53.

Iowa DOT representatives will be on hand to answer questions or address concerns. Anyone interested in hearing more about the project is invited. The open-house-style meeting will be held 5-7 p.m. at American Legion Post No. 394, 200 Main St., in Sioux Rapids. No formal presentations will be made, so attendees can arrive anytime during this two-hour block.

During the road construction, traffic from US 71 will be detoured; drivers on U.S. 71 South will use Clay County B-63, Clay County M-54 and Iowa 10. Updates on road construction and repair projects throughout the state can be accessed online at www.iowadot.gov/pim.
