The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) said this week that portions of State Road (SR) 54 and 445 in Greene County will be closed to replace structures beginning on Monday.

SR 54 will be closed for a structural replacement between Switz City and SR 57. The road will have a temporary reopening lasting for two weeks beginning on July 4. Following this period, the road will remain closed until area schools reopen for the new academic year in August.

SR 445 will be closed for approximately two months to replace a bridge located above a Beech Creek tributary, just east of SR 54.

Detours have been recommended to address heavy traffic. For SR 445, detours will be along SR 54 and SR 45. For the section of SR 54 closure, detours will follow U.S. 231/SR 57 and SR 67.

Motorists are encouraged to visit indot.carsprogram.org or call 1-800-261-7623 to get updates on highway work zones and additional traffic alerts. Citizens also may sign up for alerts from INDOT via email and text message.
