NYC unveils 2016 subway-shutdown schedule for repairs, upgrades

Crews with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) New York City Transit (NYCT) have scheduled weekend shutdowns to make improvements to the Flushing 7 Subway Line between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square/42nd Street in both directions, as well as complete the Steinway Tunnel fortification project, part of infrastructure repairs from Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Seasonal Nostalgia Train draw large crowds

MTA New York City Transit recently hosted its seasonal Nostalgia Train rides, drawing large crowds who watched the ride and participated in the trips. For the last four weekends, thousands of train riders traveled between 2nd Avenue and Queens Plaza platforms. The final weekend had record-breaking crowds, with more than 1,000 people entering the Nostalgia Train. Read More »

Projects, upgrades finished on 55th Street and Sunnyside

Two projects and upgrades were recently completed on East 55th Street in Manhattan and in Sunnyside, Queens. A subterranean ventilation facility is now located underneath East 55th Street. This new construction has slip-resistant surfaces that will help keep people safe. There are also openings measuring a half-inch wide among the cross-bars that will benefit high-heel wearers.
