House passes transportation, HUD funding bill

The House passed an appropriations bill on Tuesday that would fund both the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through Sept. 30, 2016. The bill would earmark billions of dollars in funding for both departments’ sub-agencies. For DOT, that includes the Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Highway Administration, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Federal Railroad Administration and the Maritime Administration. Congressional inaction blamed for languishing Spokane highway project

The North Spokane Corridor (NSC), a multi-billion-dollar project to extend a highway north, around Spokane, Washington, is at a stand-still, half-built, and U.S. Department of Transportation officials blame Congress. The 10.5-mile section of road is meant to connect the US-395 highway with Interstate 90, providing an alternate route through north Spokane and relieving traffic in the area. Read More »
