FTA strives for transparency in WMATA supervision

In response to requests for the WMATA to make improvements for specific safety deficiencies found in the Metrorail and Metrobus, the FTA has hired staff and developed a Corrective Action Plan. FTA gives $92,500 to Cherokee Nation for transportation

The public transit buses in northeastern Oklahoma are crucial to the lifestyles of the Cherokee Nation and their transportation needs.Many of these residents use the public buses to commute to work and school every day. From 2013 to 2014, the tribal residents increased their bus ridership by 114 percent. Now the Cherokee Nation makes up approximately 80,000 bus rides every year. Read More »

FTA finances third phase of Jacksonville BRT

The FTA recently authorized a second grant to Jacksonville to further its First Coast Flyer BRT. Jacksonville opened the first phase of its BRT system, since the region is a community that relies heavily on public transit. Running between the Rosa Parks Transit Station near downtown north Jacksonville to Interstate-295, the line extends 9.4 miles and includes real-time information. Read More »

TIGER grant to replace 300 buses in rural Texas

The U.S. Department of Transportation recently awarded a $20.8 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program grant to be used to replace unreliable vans and buses in rural communities throughout Texas.
