NCDOT survey to gauge public reaction to upgrades

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is reaching out to residents to get an understanding of how the public perceives passenger rail, NCDOT said Monday.

NCDOT is conducting a survey on public awareness of rail as it gauges public reaction to upgrades and improvements to routes and other services, in an effort to improve service.

Currently, Amtrak and NCDOT offer daily train service between Charlotte and New York City, a route called the Carolinian. There’s also additional rail service between Raleigh and Charlotte, a route called the Piedmont.

Survey participants can enter a drawing after the survey has been completed to win four free round-trip tickets on passenger rail within the state of North Carolina.

The survey is available in English and Spanish, and can be taken online. The survey ends on March 31, and the drawing's winners will be announced in April.
