Questar Fueling opens CNG site in West Valley City, Utah

Questar Fueling Company, a subsidiary of Questar, recently opened its newest compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in West Valley City, Utah.

This new station will provide services for Swift Transportation and other fleet operators with medium- and heavy-load trucks.

“This Questar Fueling CNG station is slightly different from Questar Gas’s 26 CNG stations located throughout Utah,” Questar Fueling and Questar Gas President Craig Wagstaff said. “It’s equipped with high-speed, high-volume CNG fueling for the medium- and heavy-duty truck market, and is one of seven stations we’ve built nationally for companies like Swift Transportation, Central Freight Lines, Dart Transit, Frito-Lay and other fleet operators running their vehicles on clean-burning natural gas.”

Questar also owns six more CNG facilities -- four in Texas and two in Kansas. The company plans to place fuel stations in Arizona, Nevada, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois and Georgia.

Currently, the price for CNG is $2 per gallon, less than $2.79 per gallon for diesel fuel.

There are over 15 million natural gas vehicles worldwide, but the United States only accounts for about 140,000 of those. The U.S. has, however, become the world’s largest natural gas producer, encouraging the manufacture and purchase of natural gas-powered trucks.
