The Greenbrier Companies, headquartered in Oregon, announced the appointment of Kelly Williams to its board of directors on April 6.
Williams joins the board with over 15 years of practice in the private-equity industry. She is president of GCM Grosvenor Private Markets and serves on its investment and management committees. With solid investment experience under her belt, Williams brings credentials including a law degree from New York University and a bachelor's degree in political science and math from Union College.
"Kelly is an experienced and highly successful leader in the private equity industry, with significant involvement spanning many businesses and industries," Greenbrier CEO William Furman said. "She will give Greenbrier insight into new opportunities for expansion, as well as areas of focus for investors. Her expertise and experience, with particular emphasis on investments and access to capital, will be extremely helpful to the company."
A leading supplier of transportation equipment and services to the railroad industry, Greenbrier builds new freight cars and marine barges. In the spirit of conserving resources, it reconditions and sells refurbished parts for both American and European markets.
