The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is now accepting unsolicited Public-Private Partnership (P3) proposals from the private sector for transportation projects.
These proposals are specifically for PennDOT-owned infrastructure and projects.
Enterprises from the private sector are allowed to submit proposals with innovative solutions to improve transportation throughout Pennsylvania. Projects can include ports, aviation, bridges, roads and railways.
Proposals also can contain innovative solutions for more efficient methods for managing the transportation programs and services that already exist in the state.
Transit authorities and other transportation organizations that are not within the governor’s jurisdiction are welcome to receive proposals throughout the year or create their own proposal timeline.
Private sectors also can submit applications for assets (not owned by PennDOT) straight to the P3 board until April 30.
More information about the application process and proposal details can be found on the main website for Pennsylvania’s P3: www.P3forPA.com.
P3 law does enable PennDOT and related authorities of transportation to team with the private sector in order to finance, deliver and maintain projects that are related to transportation. The Public Private Transportation Partnership Board has seven members, and they are all responsible for evaluating and accepting public-private transportation projects.
