Two nominated for Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority

Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo recently announced her nomination of Stephanie Ogidan Preston and Princess Bomba to be members of the Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority (RIPTA).

"A robust public transport system is key to growing our economy," Raimondo said. "As someone who knows the benefits of public transportation, I appreciate the importance of RIPTA. I look forward to seeing all that Stephanie and Princess will accomplish as part of this board."

RIPTA is responsible for providing mass transit service to the majority of towns and cities in Rhode Island. There are just eight members serving on the Board of Directors at RIPTA.

"I am honored to have been appointed to the RIPTA board by Gov. Raimondo," Ogidan Preston said. "I am aware of the impact of access to reliable, energy efficient and safe public transportation for all Rhode Islanders. I am delighted to serve my state in this capacity."

Bomba also thanked Raimondo for her nomination.

"RIPTA is an asset to the entire state, and thousands of people rely on it each day," she said. "I am honored to have the chance to serve the people of Rhode Island, and I look forward to this tremendous opportunity."
