The House Subcommittee on Highways and Transit said on Friday that it will hold a hearing to learn about motor-carrier innovations and technology that increase safety to reduce injuries and deaths, and prevent accidents involving trucks and buses.
The subcommittee, whose chairman is U.S. Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO), also will determine whether federal and state safety programs need to be improved. The hearing, “The Future of Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety: Technology, Safety Initiatives and the Role of Federal Regulation,” is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2167.
Testifying will be Clark Freight Lines Operations Manager Danny Schnautz, on behalf of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association; American Central Transport President Tom Kretsinger, on behalf of the American Trucking Associations; Idaho State Police Captain Bill Reese, on behalf of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance; Escot Bus Lines, LLC, President Brian Scott, on behalf of the United Motorcoach Association; and International Brotherhood of Teamsters Director of Safety and Health LaMont Byrd.
