Heniff Transportation Systems, LLC recently joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership, a collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and industry to track and reduce emissions and fuel use from goods movement.
As part of the partnership, Heniff will contribute to savings of $16.8 billion in fuel costs, 120.7 million barrels of oil, 51.6 MMT of carbon dioxide, 738,000 tons of nitrogen oxides and 37,000 tons of particulate matter, equaling the removal of 10 million cars off the road.
"We decided to join SmartWay in 2015 to support our continued green initiatives as a company,” Director of Business Integration Justin Neal said. “We have continued our investment in technology and continue to be at the leading edge of technology in our industry. We believe that with our continued investment in new equipment and industry-leading technological advances we will continue to reduce our impact on the environment and reduce our carbon footprint.”
The partnership, launched in 2004, has more than 3,000 partners including shippers; logistics companies; and truck, rail, barge and multimodal carriers who have access to SmartWay tools for monitoring emissions and fuel use.
“We felt the SmartWay partnership gave us a great opportunity to share our successes from others, and learn best in class processes and ideas from other partners," Neal said.
