The Wyoming Transportation Commission recently announced that it has awarded 10 different highway projects worth $12.2 million throughout the region.
One of the largest contracts, worth $4 million, was given to Sletten Construction Co. from Great Falls, Montana. The funds will be used to construct a new bridge to cross the Shoshone River between Cody and Powell. The new, two-lane bridge will be located approximately 100 yards downstream from the current single-lane bridge.
A $3.3 million grant to Concrete Foundations Inc. from Douglas will replace the deteriorating pavement on U.S. 430/22. This project will be possible because of the 10-cent fuel tax increase revenue approved during the Commission’s April meeting.
HK Contractors received $1.5 million to finish patching sections of highway in Sweetwater, Uinta, Lincoln, and Teton, and $1.2 million was allocated to S&L Industrial from Crowley to upgrade the guardrails located along sections of highways in Johnson, Campbell, Sheridan, and Crook counties.
Oftedal Construction from Casper bid $1.2 million to upgrade guardrails on approximately 8 miles of WYO 220.
Communities anticipate seeing these changes improve their overall infrastructure and commuting safety.
