Nebraska's state roads director retires

Gov. Pete Ricketts announced that Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) Director-State Engineer Randy Peters retired Friday.

Peters, who had served as NDOR director since August 2012, started with the state of Nebraska in 1977. While working at NDOR, he held many positions including assistant roadway design engineer, computer-assisted design coordinator, deputy director for engineering, state traffic engineer and head of transportation planning and project development.

“It has been my privilege and honor to serve alongside the men and women of NDOR to build and operate a transportation network that touches every Nebraska community,” Peters said.

Ricketts has appointed  Moe Jamshidi, a long-term NDOR employee, as the department's acting director. He assumed his duties on Monday and will maintain his duties until NDOR leaders choose a new director. Jamshidi is currently the deputy-director for operations/chief engineer. For the past 30 years, he has held various positions including materials engineer, project engineer and assistant bridge engineer.
