Rep. Auma Amata (R-American Samoa) announced Friday that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has granted the Pago Pago International Airport $1 million for improvements.
Amata said that the funds will be used to make long overdue improvements at the airport and repair its 10,000-foot runway.
“I would like to thank Director of the Department of Ports Administration Taimalelagi Claire Poumele and those others who worked to secure this funding that is so important to our islands,” Amata said.
