Ten New Jersey-based explosives specialists with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) were recently recognized with a team award for excellence from the Metropolitan Northern New Jersey Federal Executive Board (FEB).
The honored team works as part of the fifth-largest TSA workforce, offering support at Newark Liberty International Airport, Atlantic City International Airport, Trenton-Mercer Airport and Wilmington (Delaware) Airport.
“Newark avoided more than 800 hours of potential screening checkpoint closure time and passenger terminal disruptions by successfully responding to and clearing advanced explosive alarms,” New Jersey Federal Security Director Tom Carter said. “The efficient work of the explosives specialists prevented the delay or cancellation of more than 200 airline flights."
Carter said the 10 explosives specialists strengthened statewide interagency team-building, vigilance and readiness, and are well-deserving of this honor.
