Dicom Transportation Group, a leader in the business-to-business transportation service industry, recently acquired Orbis Logistics, Dicom said on Monday
This move adds strong distribution abilities and “final mile” capabilities to Dicom’s U.S. presence.
Orbis mainly functions in the Midwest and Southeast portions of the U.S. The company’s cross-dock and final-mile capabilities are based in New Orleans, Birmingham, Indianapolis and Lakeland, Florida. Orbis’ services now will join with the Dicom portfolio to feature regional parcel transportation, expedited, full-truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL), final-mile network and cross-border services.
Canada's Dicom, based in Montreal, Quebec, plans to continue expanding in Canada and the U.S. Part of this strategy is to expand its current portfolio featuring logistics and transportation services. Both new and current customers can now have access to distribution centers that are strategically located, as well as final-mile delivery points. This move especially benefits large industrial and retail customers.
"The additional capabilities provided by this acquisition are consistent with the focus of Dicom since its beginning more than 40 years ago to provide unique transportation and logistics solutions across a variety of industries," Scott Dobak, Dicom's CEO, said. "Orbis Logistics serves as a perfect final-mile complement to our current transportation network in the United States, and we are excited to offer these expanded services for both the Canadian and U.S.-based companies."
