UPS said on Wednesday that it has expanded its UPS Worldwide Express Freight service for the second time this year, adding five new destination countries and eight new origin countries.
The service is dedicated to time-sensitive, urgent and high-value international heavyweight shipments in such instances as inventory shortages, product launches, or an urgent need for replacement parts after equipment failures. The service includes faster guaranteed shipments for deliveries weighing more than 150 lbs. Just like UPS operations in the U.S., the company guarantees day-definite, door-to-door delivery.
UPS now serves 56 destination territories and countries and 58 origin areas. The newly added origin countries are El Salvador, Bulgaria, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, Serbia and Romania. Countries with destination service are Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Panama.
"Eastern Europe is experiencing growth in the manufacturing and automotive industries, and Latin America is undergoing rapid expansion of general industrial, health care, apparel and high-tech businesses," Nick Basford, UPS vice president of international marketing, said. "We expanded the number of countries we serve due to consumer requests and anticipated future demand. UPS' reputation for both reliability and speed, which (are) critical for urgent shipments, resonates with customers. We are working constantly to meet customer needs for global trade."
