President Barack Obama recently announced that he plans to nominate new people to fill several important administration roles.
Scott Darling was included among the nominees. He is currently the chief counsel for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) at the Department of Transportation. He has served in this position since 2012. Darling was also the acting administrator of FMCSA, where he served from August 2014 to March 2015.
Before these positions, Darling was the deputy chief of staff and assistant general counsel at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) between 2009 and 2012. His other roles have been at the MBTA, the Conservation Law Foundation and Freedom House.
Obama's other nominations include Richard Buckius as deputy director of the National Science Foundation; Linda Etim as assistant administrator for the bureau of Africa's U.S. Agency for International Development; Marcel Lettre as undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence, Department of Defense; Laura Holgate as U.S. representative to the Vienna Office of the United Nations; Patrick Murphy as undersecretary of the Army; Robert Reischauer to the board of trustees of the Social Security Trust Funds; and Cherry Murray as director of the Office of Science in the Department of Energy.
“I am grateful that these talented and dedicated individuals have agreed to take on these important roles and devote their talents to serving the American people,” Obama said. “I look forward to working with them.”
