The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) recently began a billboard campaign along the Interstate 405 express toll lane to prepare drivers for future changes that will be made to the Bellevue to Lynnwood corridor this September.
The initial billboards have been erected, and further informational steps will be taken over the upcoming weeks.
The purpose of the campaign, which is from the Washington State Department of Transportation, is to educate drivers about how the express toll lanes operate. The campaign is also to inform carpoolers about changes, such as new occupancy requirements and the new "Good To Go! Flex Pass" for free travel.
“The changes coming with I-405 express toll lanes are exciting but it’s a significant change for the hundreds of thousands of drivers who use this road every day,” Craig Stone, WSDOT's assistant secretary for toll division, said. “We’ve reached out to a lot of people since starting our grassroots effort last fall, but with about a month to go, we are widening the reach.
“I-405 carpoolers will face the biggest changes with express toll lanes. Carpoolers will need to set up an account, get a Flex Pass installed, and make sure they have the right number of passengers to travel free. If you're a carpooler, please visit www.GoodToGo405.org to set up your account and get your Flex Pass.”
