Victoria Sheehan to be nominated for commissioner of the Department of Transportation

Gov. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire recently announced that she intends to nominate Victoria Sheehan from Nashua as the new commissioner of the Department of Transportation (DOT).

This is part of the governor’s plans for a modern, safe transportation infrastructure, which Hassan said is crucial for the people, businesses and economy of New Hampshire.

Sheehan is the leading recommendation after a comprehensive search for a new commissioner. The search is led by John Barthelmes (the Department of Safety Commission), Linda Hodgdon (former Department of Administrative Services Commission), George Campbell (former Department of Transportation Commissioner) and Donnalee Lozeau (mayor of Nashua).

"The commissioner of the Department of Transportation is critical to ensuring that our state has the full range of safe and modern transportation options that our 21st century economy needs to thrive and grow,” Hassan said. “Victoria Sheehan will bring years of experience managing complex transportation projects and programs in her more than ten years of distinguished work at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Highway Department.”

"I am grateful that Gov. Hassan has entrusted me with the important responsibility of ensuring a reliable and modern transportation infrastructure that will lay the foundation for future economic growth, and I look forward to working with the governor and New Hampshire's dedicated DOT employees to keep the state’s roads clear and safe," Sheehan said.
