UPS Freight recently announced that it is opening a new service center facility located in Franklin Park, Illinois.
The new facility extends 28,000 square feet spread across a lot that is five acres large. It has 66 docks for both unloading and loading of less-than-truckload (LTL) freight.
The Franklin Park area was strategically chosen, as it is close to other UPS Freight Centers located in Aurora, Palatine, Chicago and South Holland.
The facility will both unload and load its LTL freight. It will also process shipments taken from across the US, deliver services to customers based across the greater Chicago area and provide pickup to these customers as well.
The facility, located at 11201 Irving Park Road, will have the space to house approximately 90 UPS Freight employees. This figure includes administrative workers, dock workers, management workers and truck drivers. There is also a staging area for employee parking as well as tractor trailers.
"Business growth in the greater Chicago area has driven demand for UPS Freight's capabilities," Kevin Hartman, president of UPS Freight's Central Region, said. "This new building addresses immediate needs and positions us for the continued expansion of our customers' businesses."
UPS Freight is one of the nation’s biggest LTL carriers. It is also a top TL service provider in the U.S.
