Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS), a business unit under Cubic Corp., recently announced that it has received a contract with the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) to modify its revenue management system.
The contract, which amounts to $12.6 million, includes adding fare machines, ticket vending machines, parking validator devices and fare gates. The goal is to lengthen the equipment life and also offer new payment functionality for the future.
“The time and money it takes to procure a new revenue management system is significant and Cubic was able to demonstrate the millions of dollars in savings to BART riders and taxpayers by updating our current system,” Paul Oversier, assistant general manager of operations for BART, said. “We will also be well-positioned to transition to next-generation payment technologies in partnership with the region.”
Modifying the current revenue management system is a timely as well as cost-effective solution to guarantee that the systems continue showing quality performance. The equipment is used by its customers on a daily basis.
“Cubic’s equipment and systems, which have been validated throughout the world, help move more than 400,000 BART riders on a daily basis,” Matt Newsome, senior vice president and general manager of Cubic Transportation Systems, said. “We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with BART and supporting them to maximize the full use of their system while continuing to offer riders a convenient and seamless travel experience.”
