Officials recently announced that there will be ongoing overnight work on Interstate 17, south of Camp Verde.
For drivers, this means that there will be lane restrictions throughout this week’s work hours. The hours of construction will last from Monday to Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. every night.
The overnight work will be taking place in both directions. The work is part of a repaving project between the Middle Verde traffic interchange (south of Camp Verde) and State Route 169. The work will be from milepost 279 to 291, totaling at a 12-mile section of the road.
The construction crews will continue their work on the barrier currently located at the traffic interchange at Middle Verde. It will be just above I-17. The crews will narrow the roadway to just one lane in the work zone, which will extend from milepost 289 to 290.
There will also be intermittent shoulder closures for a variety of other work. Only minimal delays will be expected for drivers.
The project, which amounts to a total of $7.5 million, requires crews to remove a layer of the current pavement. Then they must repave the bridge work, roadway and shoulder improvements. Officials estimate that the work will be finished by Sept. 2015.
