The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, has released a report -- "Passenger Travel Facts and Figures 2015" -- that provides readers with insight into the various trends and characteristics of U.S. travel, including the network travelers use, as well as the environmental, economic and safety results of such travel habits.
The report, which is 94 pages long, gives readers a summary about the economic characteristics and basic demographics of the U.S. as well as how these factors contribute to passenger travel demands in the nation. It also evaluates the travel patterns that various households have in terms of trip purpose, characteristics and transportation mode.
Readers can look at the report to find further information about the use, extend, and performance of the U.S. passenger transportation system. There is also a discussion about the nation’s economic characteristics for tourism as well as passenger travel. It shows the energy, safety, and environmental impacts of U.S. passenger travel.
Many experts agree that solid infrastructure is key to the U.S. economy. Without it many industries, including the travel industry, would be at risk.
