The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recently announced that it has offered funds for both training as well as supportive service programs; these funds, which amount to up to $3 million, will be used to assist local transportation agencies or state departments of transportation to foster the kind of workforce that they need to guarantee that public roads are safe for drivers.
Public roads must be safe for both commuters as well as professional drivers who transport goods throughout the U.S. In order for the U.S. economy to grow and maintain its steady rate, the nation must have a reliable infrastructure system.
Currently, U.S. infrastructure is facing major challenges in funding, demographics and more. Congress recently extended a funding bill for the nation’s infrastructure, but the brief extension will not provide for the long terms of U.S. drivers and economies.
Good infrastructure benefits the national economy as well as the local economy. People rely on safe roads to travel to and from home, work and school, and local workers need infrastructure projects to generate more jobs.
Organizations interested in receiving portions of the funds must fill out an application. The deadline to apply is scheduled for Dec. 23, 2015.
