The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) recently announced it will host a public hearing concerning the proposed bridge replacement crossing Wildcat Creek in Tippecanoe County.
The proposed
SR 26 bridge replacement will cross the South Fork portion of Wildcat
Creek, just 2.8 miles to the east of I-65. There is an alternative
approach that requires the existing bridge to be replaced with a new
structure at almost the same place.
The replacement is designed to be a pre-stressed concrete, three-span
composite, hybrid bulb-T beam bridge that has a clear roadway opening
measuring at 46 feet. It will be comprised of two traffic lanes that
measure 12 feet wide and include 11 foot shoulders.
To install the new bridge, crews will need 1.8 acres to dedicate to the
new permanent right of way. There are not any anticipated residential or
commercial relocations necessary.
Prior to the hearing there will be displays for the public to examine and representatives to offer general information concerning the project. The goal of the hearing is to provide the public with a chance to provide feedback about the proposed design plans.
The meeting will be held at the Faith East Community Center (5572 Mercy Way, Lafayette, Indiana 47905) on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.
