The Arizona Department of Transportation said Interstate 8 in Pinal County will be limited to a single lane in each direction between mileposts 175 and 176 in Casa Grande as part of a resurfacing and improvement project that began Monday.
The lane closures are part of a $7.3 million bridge and pavement project on I-8 from Bianco Road to I-10. These improvements include the bridges on Peart Road and Trekell Road.
In addition, crews will install new guardrails, pipe extensions and cattle guards. They will also lower Thornton Road until the new bridge and the road meet at 16 feet high.
Lanes will be restricted from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. until the project ends in summer 2016. During the closures, the speed limit will be limited to 55 mph. Officials encourage drivers to be cautious, share the road and decrease speed when driving through the work zones.
