US 60 in Arizona to close east of Superior

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will close US 60 eastward from Superior in order to complete blasting work to widen the shoulders of the roadway and to construct a new passing lane.

Officials from ADOT encourage drivers to plan in advance for extra travel time needed on their routes using US 60. All traffic traveling eastward on US 60 will need to be stopped near milepost 227, directly east from Superior. All traffic traveling westward will need to be stopped near milepost 235, located at the Top of the World.

The closures will take place on November 10 (from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. as well as 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.) and November 12 (from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. as well as 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be a total of four closures lasting for 90 minutes. The closures include the blasting time and the time it takes to clear the debris from the road.

There will also be delays and additional lane closures an estimated 30 minutes before the crews conduct each blast. Crews will also need to erect a concrete barrier before each of the closures that are scheduled, which will require additional closure times.
