I-8 road work planned to summer

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has scheduled road work for Interstate 8, located in Pinal County, through December.

Each day, I-8 will be restricted to a single lane, beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m. The crews will not conduct their work over the holiday weekend, from Thursday to Sunday.

Drivers are cautioned to obey the 55 miles per hour speed limit decrease.

The restrictions apply to both directions of the interstate. The narrowed lanes last from Peart Road (milepost 170) to Bianco Road (milepost 175). Despite the holiday break, there will be a lane closed at the Santa Crus Bridge and Peart Road.

The focus of the project is to improve the pavement and bridge in the City of Casa Grande. The specific portion of the road extends from Bianco Road through I-10. It also includes the east and westbound I-8 bridges located on Thornton Road, Peart Road, and Trekell Road.

The project also requires crews to add new cattle guards, pipe extensions and guardrails. In addition, they will need to lower the bridge on Thornton Road to 16 feet.

There will be various lane restrictions throughout the length of the project, which is scheduled to be fully completed by next summer.
