Officials from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) have scheduled a series of public meetings this week to discuss the I-69 Section 6 route extension from Martinsville to Indianapolis.
The purpose of the meetings is to gather public requests and input about the routes. The five preliminary routes were first announced in June 2015. Officials hope to scale these down to a smaller number.
All of the meetings include a session of public comment to give INDOT information that will help them to determine the best routes. The meetings will also include new details about the local access road locations and proposed interchanges.
Officials will explain an analysis about the preliminary routes and how they will affect both local residents as well as natural environments. Participants will also learn about the Purpose and Need performance measures and cost of the routes.
On Monday, Perry Meridian High School hosted the first meeting in Indianapolis. Mooresville High School will hold the second meeting on Wednesday in Mooresville, and Martinsville High School will host the last meeting on Thursday in Martinsville.
All of the meetings will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will be opened at 6 p.m. There will be an open house session, time for public comment and a formal presentation.
