The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has scheduled closures for Loop 101, which is also called Pima Freeway, Sunday and Monday while crews work on Black Mountain Boulevard bridge.
The closures will occur in the East Valley and begin at 9 p.m. on Dec. 13 and end at 5 a.m. Monday.
The closure will be in place from Cave Creek Road to State Route 51 so that the crews can conduct the necessary bridge work. The eastbound on ramps for Loop 101 at Cave Creek Road and Seventh Street will also be closed at that time. In addition, the westbound HOV lane on Loop 101 will be closed beginning at SR 51.
Drivers should remain cautious and aware of safety concerns as they drive through the construction zone. There will be a detour made available off Cave Creek Road. The detour travels south along eastbound Union Hills Drive. Drivers will then take northbound SR 51 to eventually rejoin Loop 101.
The crews intend to reopen the eastbound lane of Loop 101 through to the SR 51 southbound ramp after 12 a.m. on Sunday night. At this time, traffic that is traveling eastward on Loop 101 can drive on SR 51 southbound, then eastbound Union Hills Drive, then northbound Tatum Blvd and eventually rejoin onto Loop 101 as a detour.
