Officials from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently added eligible Allegiant customers to its Pre?® program, which is an expedited screening travelers' program.
With the
Pre?® screening, travelers don’t have to take off their shoes, show their laptops, remove their belts or light outerwear or set aside their 3-1-1 liquids, allowing the TSA to screen low-risk travelers faster. The travelers can use this service at more than 150 airports that are located within the United States.
“Allegiant is committed to providing safe, economical and convenient travel options,” Eric Gust, Allegiant vice president of Safety, said. “Offering our travelers TSA Pre?® is another way we can make it even easier for them to get to their destinations.”
There are 13 different carriers within the TSA Pre?® program, including Alaska Airlines, Air Canada, Allegiant, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest Airlines, OneJet, Sun Country Airlines, WestJet, Virgin America and United Airlines.
“Expanding TSA Pre?® to Allegiant will help TSA reach its goal of 25-million enrollees and enable more travelers to experience the program’s benefits,” Peter Neffenger, TSA administrator, said. “Increasing the “trusted population” enables TSA to enhance screening of known as well as unknown threats to aviation security and provide travelers with the most effective security in the most efficient way.”
