The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) published the details of its successful year Tuesday, which included watching U.S. public transportation ridership continue to expand.
The FTA has compensated for that growth and increased demand by joining with partners who are located within local regions in the nation. These partnerships are crucial to public transportation projects.
The FTA also implemented its new safety oversight authority, which is designed to guarantee that the transit systems throughout the United States are safe and reliable for users.
In addition, the FTA invested the majority of its focus in specific public transportation projects that will help communities. The goal is to offer communities that need opportunities an easy, accessible way to reach them.
One of the successful projects for the FTA included rapid bus transit in the state of Oregon. The project received funds from the Capital Investment Grant (CIG) program of the FTA. The streamlined program is organized so that projects begin and end much more rapidly, which will help local residents without compromising the high standards of the FTA and CIG program.
The program has helped transit agencies as well as state and local partners identify the methods that the FTA uses when determining whether to approve possible transportation and infrastructure projects. The program also clarifies the “Core Capacity” category, which outlines projects that are important to various transit corridors.
