The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has scheduled an open house 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Bellevue’s SkyView Ballroom, 300 112th Ave. SE, to explain its upcoming transportation projects to subcontractors, contractors, consultants and the public.

Recently, legislators and Gov. Jay Inslee invested $16 billion in Washington’s transportation system. The funds, part of the 2015 Connecting Washington Transportation funding package, will be spread out throughout the next 16 years.

The investments will give local businesses the opportunity to economically grow alongside the transportation construction industry.

All small, large and disadvantaged businesses are welcome to attend to learn more about the transportation projects and programs, most of which receive financing from Connection Washington. Anyone interested in attending the event should RSVP.

There will be staff from WSDOT, Washington State Ferries (WSF) and collaborating organizations at the event to discuss the projects and programs. Partner organizations include the National Association of Minority Contracts, American Council of Engineering Companies, Northwest Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council, Associated General Contractors, Native Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Office of Minority & Business Women’s Business Enterprises, Washington Asphalt Paving Association, Tabor 100 and the Women’s Transportation Seminar.
