The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) recently named Kimbol Allen the new ITD administrator of the Division of Engineering Plans and Products, as well as the agency's chief engineer.

Allen has been part of the transportation community in the southern and eastern region of the state for approximately 17 years. Previously, he served as the District 6 engineer in eastern Idaho since 2014.

"Kimbol brings a strong management background ... to this division," Jim Carpenter, ITD chief operations officer, said. "We had a very strong candidate pool for this position, and I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to promote someone of Kimbol’s quality."

With his new position, Allen will lead the planning and products of ITD beginning on Feb. 29. Allen's responsibilities will extend to five divisions: Rights of Way, Office of Highway Safety, Bridges, Mobility Services and Central Labs. Allen also will handle appeals and claims, and will be the ITD representative for national transportation boards.

"Transportation is fundamental to daily life,” Allen said. "I look forward to helping further ITD’s mission of safety, mobility and economic opportunity for the traveling public."
