Weather forecast delays Arizona highway paving work by one day

A rainy weather forecast on Sunday forced crews to push paving work back a day to Monday night on SR 83, just east of Tucson, Arizona.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) was completing work on eastbound I-10 ramps, which, along with the off-ramps at Exit 281, were closed Monday night and reopened Tuesday morning.

The project is just one part of an overall $15.1 million paving project. The goal is to re-pave 17 miles of highway on I-10 from Benson to Tucson. The project also includes a new bridge for westbound I-10, near Davidson Canyon.

Drivers should travel cautiously through the work zone, slowing down and being aware of construction personnel, as well as equipment.

ADOT strives to keep the public up to date about any highway closures that may need to be temporarily implemented due to weather-related and other delays.
