The American Petroleum Institute and U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) this week unveiled the Veterans Energy Pipeline website, which aims to help military members returning to civilian life find jobs in the energy industry.

“Our goal is to build on the successes of America’s energy revolution and help those serving our country, as well as veterans, transition into well-paying careers in the oil and gas industry,” API President and CEO Jack Gerard said. “This unique forum will provide important information about the industry, the outlook for job opportunities, and useful job-hunting tools and resources.”

A recent IHS Global study estimates that over 950,000 new energy-sector jobs will be created by 2020 -- and up to 1.3 million by 2030.

“In the next decade or so, approximately half of the industry’s current technical personnel will retire,” Gerard said. “Replacing these jobs and filling anticipated new ones will be critical to maintaining our nation’s position as a global energy leader.”
