Projects aimed at improving Washington’s roadways and bridges are in progress or in the planning stages all over the state.

To help local consultants and contractors get in on those projects, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and industry partners are hosting a series of community workshops. The next will take place Wednesday in Ellensburg and is open to all area prime and subprime contractors.

The workshop will be run 5-7:30 p.m. at Central Washington University’s Student Union and Recreation Center Ballroom 215A, 400 E. University Way.

Personnel from organizations offering certifications will be on hand to assist companies in certification processes.

WSDOT officials also urge disadvantaged companies or those owned by minorities, women or veterans to come to the workshops for information. They also encourage established and new small businesses with state-funded contracts to attend.
