LOUISIANA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND DEVELOPMENT: Dept. of Transportation and Development Announces Bid Results for Statewide Projects

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development issued the following announcement on Sept. 13.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that 21 projects around the state were let on September 12, 2018. Sixteen contractors presented bids totaling $40 million.

“DOTD’s top priority is the safety of the traveling public, and we’re pleased to be able to enhance it with several new projects,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “Most notably, we’ll be raising and leveling several flood-prone ramps in Slidell along I-10, a critical hurricane evacuation route. As infrastructure funding continues to be a struggle, DOTD will keep finding innovative ways to advance projects for the safety of our citizens.”

The projects and their apparent low bids are as follows:

Bridge Replacement and Repair:

Repair of intracoastal bridges on LA 1 in West Baton Rouge Parish: $2,847,588.00

Repair of embankment under bridge along LA 38 at Silver Creek in Washington Parish: $366,321.00

Pavement/ Overlay:

Grading, drainage, patching, and overlay on U.S. 165 between S LA 599 and N LA 599 in Morehouse Parish: $1,895,958.38

Grading, drainage, milling, patching, and paving on LA 22 in Ascension Parish: $2,540,448.16

Patching, milling, and paving on U.S. 71 between Andrews St. and LA 498 in Rapides Parish: $3,419,432.28

Concrete replacement on I-20 at Delta Scales in Madison Parish: $3,161,735.80

Milling, patching, and overlay on LA 1161 at LA 29 in Evangeline Parish: $169,069.57

Grading, drainage, milling, patching, and overlay on LA 327 between Iberville Parish line and LA 327-S in East Baton Rouge Parish: $589,550.75

Patching and surface treatment on LA 191 between Nelson Rd. and LA 476 in Sabine Parish: $625,479.63

Congestion Mitigation and Safety:

Ramp raising and leveling, light installation, shoulder widening, and cable barriers on I-10 between Oak Harbor Blvd. and the I-10/I-12/I-59 interchange in St. Tammany Parish: $14,850,510.25

Intersection improvements on LA 384 at LA 385 in Calcasieu Parish: $2,629,773.25

Intersection upgrade on N. Canal at 7th St. in Lafourche Parish: $598,512.50

Right-turn lane and median construction on LA 14 at U.S. 167 in Vermilion Parish: $283,250.33

Right-turn lane and signal upgrades at railroad crossing on LA 3060 at U.S. 90 in St. Charles Parish: $187,687.05

Right-turn lane construction on LA 182 at LA 316 and LA 660 in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes: $773,738.70

Left-turn lane construction on LA 308 at LA 648 in Lafourche Parish: $494,180.01

Traffic signal fiber optic upgrades on 12 roadways in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Livingston, St. James, and West Baton Rouge parishes: $1,674,009.15

Pavement marking replacement along I-10 in Calcasieu and Jefferson Davis parishes: $107,925.00

Other:

Multi-use path on east bank levee (Phase 6) in St. Charles Parish: $944,182.70

Sidewalks with landscaping and drainage along LA 35 in Vermilion Parish: $1,450,438.60

Dry docking, steel repairs, and painting statewide: $319,553.00

Construction projects are prioritized by road/bridge condition, urgency of improvements, type/volume of traffic, crash records, unforeseeable emergencies that caused damage, and several other factors.
