NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION: MLK, Rancho Freeway On-ramp Closures Tuesday Night in Las Vegas

Nevada Department of Transportation issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will close the following freeway ramps from 10 p.m., February 26, until 5 a.m., February 27, in Las Vegas, including:

The Martin Luther King Boulevard on-ramp to U.S. Highway 95 northbound.

The Rancho Drive on-ramp to Interstate 15 southbound.

Additionally, U.S. Highway 95 southbound will be reduced to one lane near Rancho Drive from 11 p.m., February 26, until 4 a.m., February 27, with intermittent rolling closures. The temporary closures are needed for sign removal and electrical work related to ramp meters as part of Project Neon’s nearly $1 billion 4-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue, which broke ground in 2016. Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. is the design-build general contractor, with Atkins North America as lead designer. Project Neon is 93 percent finished and scheduled for substantial completion in this summer.

Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. Check the Project Neon website (NDOTProjectNeon.com) or Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages (@NDOTProjectNeon) for up to date information. There is also a free smart phone app available, plus a hotline available in both English and Spanish at: 702-293-NEON (6366). NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit nvroads.com or call 511 before driving.
